Raymond hails from Franklin, Tennessee, where all the country music stars go to buy a farm and feel all “rural". He grew up in an agricultural family, with an international cattle broker for a father and a former Miss Tennessee, turned lawyer, for a mother.
Raymond was in tune with his artistic caveman from the start; writing, sketching, woodcarving, leatherworking, playing percussion and writing lyrics in 'jam bands' around Nashville. His 'maleness' was strengthened by playing football, soccer, working on farms, shooting things, and burning things while reading great works of literature. Yes, he is the perfectly balanced caveman. But there is more…
Raymond received a B.A. in Philosophy from The University of the South at Sewanee. He was inducted into the National Philosophy Society and wrote his thesis on Kierkegaard's Indirect Communication…. so he's like… smart, too.
SO SMART, in fact, he left the financially unstable world of Philosophy for a more practical and lucrative path… ACTING. In 2005, He received his MFA in Acting from the Mason Gross School of the Arts, at Rutgers University. He learned more than he ever thought possible and set up an alumni association for them in 2006, which he still runs to this day.
Raymond is so proud to add CAVEMAN to his growing list of theatre credits which include the original Off Broadway runs of
God's Ear (now published) at The Vineyard Theatre 2008 and New Georges Theatre 2007; the US premiere of Norwegian playwright Jon Fosse's Sa Ka La (Off Broadway); and over forty other productions with theatre's such as Long Wharf, The Public, LAByrinth, Two River, La MaMa, etc.
Television credits include 30 Rock (NBC-Universal); Order of the Serpentine (Spike TV); Guiding Light (CBS); The Agency (Pilot 2007 NYTVF). Most recently he made his feature film debut in Ghost Town (Dreamworks). Raymond also writes and produces sketch comedy for online content. He is a member of AEA, AFTRA, and SAG.
